July 1944. British Reinforced Recce Squadron is ready to cross the line of departure.So far their advance in Italy was swift and without serious resistance. Moral is high, there is no serious intelligence that there are any heavy Axis elements in the area. Allied air spotted only some fast moving recce vehicles and trucks but in total, nothing serious so far.
During the previous night however the first elements of a SS Recce Battalion arrived in the vicinity of the city of Spirio to block the British advance and to achieve additional time for the heavy elements.
In a couple of minutes your units will be in contact with aggressive infantry and fast moving & firing armored vehicles!

This just seemed too difficult for the Allies to make it a lot of fun. The Allies need some more troops and maybe a few less schreks for the Germans. I'd like to see the map opened up a bit - fewer trees.
Victory Conditions
I don't think an Allied victory would be easy to attain.
Map & Terrain
The map was too big from the Allied perspective. It was very difficult to advance. Great from the German point of view though since they have countless places to hide. Too many trees.
Game Length
Game length was fine.
Force Mix
Force mix was OK but the Allies needed more infantry to root out the Germans.
What I really did not like about this scenario
Too many Germans with AT weapons and too many places for them to hide. My armour took a beating as they need more infantry support. The title is a bit misleading I think since the Allies can't move fast without taking very serious losses from the German AT weapons and guns.
