RE: Recovered German Tank - Copper - 01-20-2007 Done RE: Recovered German Tank - wigam - 01-20-2007 Great thread. I envy all that live in Europe and the US. The battle sites and old relics that are still around. Not good during the war. I have talked about a tour of some sites with friends. Very expensive coming from New Zealand but maybe one day. Wigam RE: Recovered German Tank - Copper - 01-20-2007 Hell Im waiting for Phil Davies to stop going to watch the Welsh rugby team and get back into organising some battlefield trips for the Blitz. https://www.theblitz.club/newsletter/grumblers_grapevine/2004_Jan_Grapevine.pdf Go to page 18 to read about Phils Blitz Big Day Out he organised in 2003 for the members. RE: Recovered German Tank - wigam - 01-20-2007 Thats exactly why i am jealous.:hissy: Blitz BIG meet - Phil Davies (FGM) - 01-24-2007 If the demand is there for it i'll look at doing another trip for 2008, where would everyone like to go :conf: RE: Recovered German Tank - wigam - 01-24-2007 If i could ever get my wife to let me go, i would love to go to North Africa and see some of the battle sites there. I am reading a book on the North African campaign. Its called war at dawn and its a great read. All about the Torch landings. I just wonder if they have alot of relics and battle sites still reasonable order? Wig RE: Recovered German Tank - Herr Schacht - 01-24-2007 I was in Tunisia a year ago. Not much to see there. The only great WWII site was the Mareth Line and Rommel's bunker there. Other than that, the Roman ruins are much more impressive. I brought "Army at Dawn" with me. It was more fun to read about Kasserine than it was to see it. There's nothing there except for a highway and some random villages. Tunisia itself, though is much worth seeing. We thought about Libya, but everything worth seeing is geographically dispersed and the logistics were very difficult. |
