Streams do engineer units help in crossing streams? - pavane - 01-25-2020 Hi do engineer units help other units in any way at all in getting across a stream? RE: Streams do engineer units help in crossing/ - Kool Kat - 01-25-2020 (01-25-2020, 10:14 PM)pavane Wrote: Hi Gent: Engineers can build bridges across streams. A bridge reduces the movement cost to cross stream hex sides. Bridge Building Bridges may be built across river, stream, gully, canal, and anti-tank hexsides. Only Engineer units identified as a Bridge Eng unit in the display when you right click on the unit picture can build bridges. It costs non-Bridgelayer Engineer units their full movement allowance to initiate building a bridge. Thus they may not move or fire in the same turn they initiate bridge building. For Bridgelayer units, it costs 1/3 of their movement allowance to initiate bridge building. The Engineer unit must not be Disrupted or Broken, cannot be in Travel or Rail Mode, and cannot be Digging-In. - Pg. 54 PzC User Manual. RE: Streams do engineer units help in crossing/ - Mr Grumpy - 01-25-2020 Mike is 100% correct with his answer, however most players would consider using a bridge engineer too much of a valuable asset to waste bridging a stream if the scenario you are playing may involve having to bridge a river. However if the engineers have nothing better to do and the bridge over the stream improves your supply or ability to move forward quickly then why not? RE: Streams do engineer units help in crossing/ - Fhil - 01-26-2020 I remember building some bridges over streams once, I think it was in the Minsk Campaign game. Some areas are really full of marches, streams and rivers. Once the ground conditions change to Mud and you are really counting every hour waiting for that panzer division that´s been slugging from reserve to arrive into the battle, it surely helps to bridge a stream near a crucial crossroad or something similar. But it surely is rarely seen to bridge streams and the engineers always have a better job to do (bridging rivers, helping with digging-in, laying mines etc..) RE: Streams do engineer units help in crossing streams? - pavane - 01-26-2020 Yes a good point. Espcially at a important crossing.
