RE: Q for Valcano Man (Alt-scen N'44 German OOB) - JonS1 - 07-22-2007 Sure, but "well, let's see if we can do something" is a tad more helpful than "you're SOL. Tough" no? ;) RE: Q for Valcano Man (Alt-scen N'44 German OOB) - Mike Abberton - 07-22-2007 If you say so. But all you have to do is ask them if they have PBEM encryption turned on rather that giving them false hope. Considering that 99% of all PBEM gamers use encryption so that the other player cannot open their turn nor play text editor god, then the odds of "doing something" is slim and none. RE:Q for Valcano Man (Alt-scen N'44 German OOB) - JonS1 - 07-23-2007 Quite right. Much better to assume they have encryption on, and proceed to cut them off at the knees. RE: Q for Valcano Man (Alt-scen N'44 German OOB) - Mike Abberton - 07-23-2007 I know that is a rhetorical question. You can email me if you want to continue this pointless exchange. RE: Q for Valcano Man (Alt-scen N'44 German OOB) - JonS1 - 07-23-2007 Actually, it isn't. I think encryption doesn't capture the OOB and PDT, but I'm not sure. Hence the question. It's called moving on and being helpful. Do you want to do that, or just dwell? Never mind; I'll just test it. I'll let you know. RE: Q for Valcano Man (Alt-scen N'44 German OOB) - Mike Abberton - 07-23-2007 Ok then, my mistake. No, encyption does not protect the OOB or PDT files. These can be edited at any point and replaced and they will take immediate effect for games in progress. RE: Q for Valcano Man (Alt-scen N'44 German OOB) - JonS1 - 07-23-2007 Ta. |
