RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Jack Dionne - 02-21-2008 Cross Wrote:Jack,Thanks for the great info, it is nice to see people like you take the time to answer question like this. I't what makes a forum work. RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - AlienXXX - 02-22-2008 Hi Guys I tell you what I would really like in tems of WW2 / MBT sounds, although I am afraid this is one for the Shrapnel guys to work on... It would be nice to have a little more variation on the sound of flak hitting tanks. When your artillery barrage lands on an armoured formation you have to keep listennig to that "Boom .... Klack" for each shell that lands until you go mad! Some sounds (such as sniper or infantry rifles fire) have variations to them. Can that be done with the sound of stuff bouncing of armour as well? Cesar / AlienXXX RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Cross - 02-23-2008 Hi Alien, I think there are 3 different sounds for armour being hit. 22.wav 81.wav 82.wav I think 22 may be a hit plus damage to the vehicle, but not certain if this is always the case. You could listen to them and change the one that's annoying you to something less offensive. RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Weasel - 02-23-2008 Cross, where can I DL your sounds? RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Cross - 02-23-2008 Hi Weasel, Here's the thread on this forum which had the DL link: https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=43966 I made this mod for WinSPWW2 as I rarely play MBT but WinSPMBT uses the same sounds. So you could copy this mod into your MBT sounds folder (make a backup first) and use it for both. As long as you use wav files - not mp3 - for MBT, because you have a choice with MBT and this mod updates only the wav files. It won't be quite as good an improvement for MBT, because I have taken some of the files from MBT for use with WW2. This is because when MBT was released they released it with the same sounds as WW2, but many were better quality. I guess there were no longer the concern with file sizes like there was back in the early SPww2 days, remember those times... RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Weasel - 03-02-2008 Playing with Cdns in 1980 and my motorized squads firing their FN makes the sound of a diving plane, real sweet. To choose between wav and mp3 I just delete the format I don't want? RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Weasel - 03-02-2008 Well I like the sounds of the tanks and autocannons that is for sure. The Cdn infantry still makes plane sounds though, instead of a diving plane I now have the sound of a spitfire...at least it is a better a/c. RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Cross - 03-02-2008 Weasel, 1. I assume your 1980 Cdn squad made the plane sound before you installed either mod? In which case the problem is in your OOB or exisited in the original game. 2. To switch between MP3 and WAV you have to change your 'sounds.ini' file in the sounds folder. You should have two sounds.ini files. One named mp3sounds.ini which I assume is the mp3 backup, and one named sounds.ini which I assume is the WAV default. Rename sounds.ini to wavsounds.ini and mp3sounds.ini to sounds.ini and the game should start using mp3 instead of wav. Please keep in mind that both the CW mod, and my sound mod have only used wav files. So stick with WAV, unless you only want stock sounds. RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Weasel - 03-02-2008 I just deleted the mp3s and it used wav (or maybe it was using wav all along, don't know). Yes, it played the planes before as stated. RE: WinSPMBT (sounds) - Cross - 03-02-2008 Yeah, I think WAV is the default in the latest release. As for the plane sound, the only way to fix it is to report it to SPCAMO; and then it will be done for the next release |
