Regardless, it's a good list and hopefully other people will find it as useful as I did. Google is all about divining the magic words. You have to subvert it to yield knowledge rather than the "excessive burdening flow of information" so properly reviled by the recently late and forever great Alexander Solzhenitsyn. -- 30 -- RE: WinSPWW2 German OOB Question - cbo - 08-18-2008 Deadeye Wrote:Hi All, Changing it is simple. Just crank up the OOB editor, choose the German OOB, find the "formations" tab and change the name of the formation and save. You can see what the formation consists of on the same page, so finding an appropriate name should not be too difficult. Then repeat process about 500 times Before you start, back up your OOB files. Of course, next time you patch your game, the OOB you saved will be overwritten with a new one - in German. :) And you only have 15 characters to work with, so "Heavy Tank Company" wont work - Heavy Tank Coy would have to do. Or not, because in the case, you probably also need to denote that you are working with the (e) version of the company (there is also a (d) version). So perhaps "Hvy Tk Coy (e)" All of which may explain why it has not been changed back to english, even though many would very much like it to be:) Claus B RE: WinSPWW2 German OOB Question - Deadeye - 08-18-2008 cbo Wrote:Changing it is simple. Thanks for the reply, but the mechanics of changing an OOB were not the problem - I know how to do that. The problem is my lack of German language skills - my brain seems to recoil at any grouping of non-English words that I can't make sense of. Non-english character sets and algebraic symbols are even worse. APL and hieroglyphics are the worst! Seabolt's list helped with the German formation names immensely. Deadeye |
