Which actually is a good thing.

One of the mistakes that I used to make as a SB newbie was to fire at everything, all the time. If there was a round left in the chamber, I fired the damn thing, even at ranges that Carlos Heathcock couldn't hit. As I've 'matured', I've learned to hold my fire longer, conserve my fire a bit more. It's come in handy in the VN tourney over on the Blitz. By holding back one platoon of US troopers, I was able to effectively neuter an assault wave. In my youth, I'd have fired them up from afar, reducing my effectiveness. I'm probably still going to lose, but I've been able to hold back a pretty sizable force by allowing them to close in before really hitting them.

With the regeneration rules in the last few games, you can fire a bit more, then recoup, but it's still a good idea not to fire at every little thing.
