Lately I've start looking for some other (similar?) strategy game. I'm playing CS for twelve years (nine on 'The Blitz') so it might be quite hard for me to find myself in other 'game engine'. I know that most of you have other games than CS. What you could suggest for old CS wargamer? If you don't mind playing in 2D I highly suggest checking out some of John Tiller's HPS games http://www.hpssims.com/index.htm. They do also have 3D however, it may not be equal to the JTCS series. There are also clubs for games found within the Early American Battles, Civil War Battles, and Napoleonic Battles. These clubs have been running for 10+ years. The CCC http://www.wargame.ch/1776/index.html The ACWGC http://www.wargame.ch/wc/acw/ The NWC http://www.wargame.ch/wc/nwc/Napann1.htm As for WWII games, John Tiller Software http://johntillersoftware.com/index.html (Which sells Digital Downloads only) offers a Demo for Mius'43 which is a Panzer Campaigns game. It includes a PDF Guide which discuses a few aspects of the game series. The Demo can be found here: http://johntillersoftware.com/Demos.php or here at the SDC http://hist-sdc.com/spotlights/pzc_m43.html. You can easily look at some of the game documents that are included with the Demo. John Tiller HPS games which are currently sold on CD only, can be found here http://www.hpssims.com/index.htm BTW, this link found over at SDC will easily direct you to all of the different HPS series. http://hist-sdc.com/spotlights/index.html JT Software and the JT HPS games all have super great tech support and guys who help design, oversee, and play test, are very active on the Blitz. So, if you have game questions, they will be answered! As a final note, there are a lot of 3rd party unit art, and map mods. Examples include these: http://hist-sdc.com/MapMod/index.htm http://old-banshee.yolasite.com/ http://tfe4.wordpress.com/ http://ironxmods.wordpress.com/ Good Luck! Having consulted my kids for their preferences, I am in the process of downloading Total War: Rome Gold. The gaming functionality seems to require quite a learning curve... There seems to be some gaming guidelines available. Since I insist on playing with red uniforms, there is not many families to choose from. Let us see. Maybe later I will give the Empire a go. Rome was 9,95 € as a digital download, Empire is available for 14.95€ Not quite like breaking the piggy bank, so given I like the gaming interface I will move to 17th century as well. Good choice, that one and Medieval II are my favorites of the series. enjoy RE: Other games similar to CS - Crossroads - 05-09-2011 (05-08-2011, 10:17 PM)Otto von Blotto Wrote:(05-08-2011, 10:07 PM)Verrückte Katze Wrote: Having consulted my kids for their preferences, I am in the process of downloading Total War: Rome Gold. It seems the digital download came without any manuals... Oh well, who needs them anyway. In the middle of the tutorial campaing + found some guidelines from the web. Should be fun! RE: Other games similar to CS - Otto von Blotto - 05-09-2011 I got mine on disk with manuals but if you go here. http://www2.sega.com/support/support_manuals.php Look in the top box on the right PC GAMES: Scroll down you can download the rome manuals the one you want is in 2 parts that already includes the extras BI barbarian invasion and Alexander.
