Yes, this is remedied in Modern Wars: Volume I and will be available for the 1.05 UPDATE. Now that I think about it, the remedy indeed fixes the bent-out time-space continuum. At the same time, it gives the player with the first move a clear advantage for the duration of the game. Whoever moves first can rely on the fact the visibility will never change for the opponent. Whereas the player moving second can never rely on LOS remaining the same for his opponent, and given the visibility would increase one hex some of his unit would become spotted. I would say keep it as it is :smoke: Maybe add an explanation to manual why it is changing for every player turn - for balance. None of my scenarios are designed for VV and I was not aware we were using it for this game........I rarely disagree with a game rule but VV is not fair nor appropriate for any scenario being as the 6 minutes are supposed to be the same for both sides..I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but I have spent my career as an umpire and gamemaster at making things fair and VV just ain't VE Of course it is possible an unspotted enemy unit had los to the units..........and I agree with that 100%....after all it is a war zone and one should expect enemy fire at anytime.....of course I hate it when it happens to me :-) VE RE: Visibility under various weather conditions? - Crossroads - 10-31-2011 (10-31-2011, 06:24 AM)Kool Kat Wrote:Optional rule only, fully agreed! This is the first time I play with it and want to give it a chance as such.(10-31-2011, 01:37 AM)Battle Kat Wrote: I would argue it was a cool thing regardless. As currently implemented it brings a bit of unpredicability to the table. Caused me some unexpected loss but decided to have an attitude that's a good thing :-/ RE: Visibility under various weather conditions? - Dragoon - 10-31-2011 I like the idea of varying visibility and changes in ground conditions due to changing weather conditions. Not so much in small scenerio's but larger ones are better suited to it.Just another unkown that commanders may have to deal with.So if it can be done fairly and is an optional rule I'm all for it. You can change at any moment; per player turn, game turn, after a number of turns or whatever. 'Normal' is: after a number of gameturns since the weather will change after a certain amount of time and not every six minutes. It is up to the conditions of the acting scenario that 'prescribes' the number of visible hexes. Cheers Bally, I was actually just wondering what the h*ll happened to my trucks, and then realised I was playing under Variable Visibility optional rule. Quite funny, actually. :) |
