Yes, if I just go to file manager and select the .pdf file Acrobat opens it and works just fine.

Yes, if I just go to file manager and select the .pdf file Acrobat opens it and works just fine.

Very strange, but at least you've got a workaround. Might try reinstalling the games, if you haven't already.

The in-game links to the manuals have been broken for me as well since upgrading to Windows 8.1, I just open them through the start menu. It might be some kind of conflict between Acrobat Reader and its Windows equivalent.
