The one in your pic is, I think, a homemade jobbie...the kiwis in the desert stuck all sorts of things on their bren carriers, worked their way up to 2pdrs and captured Italian 20mm guns...I bet the Aussies were just as bad and so, obviously, were the boys in yer photo. It does look to have the pedestal right tho, so perhaps it doubles as an MMG carrier. Good find! It is a UNIVERSAL Carrier, because it could carry various stuff in service at the time. Colloquically always known as a Bren carrier, as the Bren gun was its usual armament.. Still in Navy service (gun, not vehicle)when I first jouined in '64 -lovely thing to fire. BTW-BOYS not BOYES.
