RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Pvt. Sofronije - 03-30-2010 Herr Cargol, what's the status in your sector? If I'm not mistaken, we fought the same battle. Hope you had better luck then me! RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Ratzki - 03-30-2010 I am processing all the turns now. RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Ratzki - 04-06-2010 Here is the update for the German side. Any questions let me know. If you feel like consolidating any units, be my guest, there are some formations that could use it. I have to get the Russian side finished, hopefully today or tomorrow. I will then post to their thread and will get both sides the new reinforcement lists. RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Pvt. Sofronije - 04-07-2010 Thanks, Ratzki! Nice work! If I'm not mistaken, one of our two supply lines is about to get cut off! Situation is not the brightest one, so we need to plan our next move carefully. Next phase will probably be decisive. Any thoughts? RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Glider - 04-09-2010 (04-07-2010, 01:26 AM)Mr Chuck Wrote: Thanks, Ratzki! Nice work! Can we even move units fast enough to head them off? It doesn't look that way even if we had motorised infantry available. Ratzki, do we have any info on the strength/composition of the Soviet unit that is about to cut the western road? RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Pvt. Sofronije - 04-09-2010 I don't know if we can move fast enough. Ratzki could help us with that. Anyway, if it is possible to get there in time that means the KG F or KG C should be assigned with the task. If not, then our priority must be to defend the last supply line (the one coming from the SW) and of course the airfield (that's our main objective, right?) That would mean that we would need to abandon the city. I have one more idea: send the KG F straight west to cut off whatever enemy forces are there and then in the next phase to attack from the north and reopen the road coming from the west. Ratzki, is it possible to order our Howitzers to keep shelling the endangered road, from where they are, to deny it to the enemy or at least to slow them down until we can move our troops in position? For example, we deny them the targeted section of the map for the next phase. In case they order their troops to move to certain section of the map that happens to be targeted by our howitzers, they'll have to stay put until the next phase? Of course, they would be unaware that we have targeted anything until the phase movement are resolved. These arty fire walls were used often and are still in use... Your thoughts, gentlemen! :smoke: RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Glider - 04-09-2010 I agree completely, if we cannot keep that road open or reopen it we will have to pull back from the town. RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Ratzki - 04-10-2010 The force moving towards the German supply road is largely armor of unknown type(s). The Kubel that you had spying on it could determine that it is a sizable force 10+ tanks with some infantry. Exact composition, mostly unknown. As for shelling the road, I do not think that 4 Howitzers would have much effect as to laying down some form of blanket fire. I can of course try anything that you would want. The objectives are the town and airstrip. RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Pvt. Sofronije - 04-10-2010 Thanks, Ratzki! Well, fellow officers, I would say we're in deep #$%@ here! We need to figure out how to regroup to meet this new and serious threat. Our objectives are the town and the airfield. If I remember correctly, this airfield is the last connection with our troops in Stalingrad. So, I think that should make it more important objective than the town, if we need to chose between the two. That armoured group to the west is to powerful to engage with our current assets, especially from the move. We need to reposition KGs F and C immediately or they will find themselves surrounded very soon. Here's a suggestion: KG A could make a probe attack on the enemy forces north of their position to allow the KG C to disengage and regroup more easily. I don't know what our options are with the reinforcements, but if we don't get any armoured backup, we're just delaying the inevitable... And we definitely need to send some scouts to gather Intel on enemy forces. We're practically blind. Ratzki, considering the time scale of this operation, if we cut the supply line of that western group, how long it would take for them (in phases) to run out of gas? If they don't remain stationary, of course. Cargol, Shep, Joonny, where are you? :conf: RE: Germans ONLY "Little Saturn" No Russians Pls - Glider - 04-10-2010 I commanded the KG C in the last round and it will not be easy for them to disengage, they are practically intermingled with the Soviet tank/infantry thrust into the town centre. The Soviet spearhead is, I think, cut off, but almost the entire KG C is north of the Soviet unit and would have to punch through to get out of the town. Trying to get around the spearhead would be very dicey as there are no troops blocking their way west. |
