Axis cautious advance towards the town of Sibin has been met with hasty Soviet counterattack. The Russians clearly decided to bring the battle to their enemy and clashed with advancing Hungarians and Germans in series of bloody battles around the so called Simnic Road. Results vary with localized axis victories, yet Soviet sources claim Axis attacks were effectively cancelled and brought to a halt. (...) In other news: Soviets announce the start of two strategic offensives in the north, aiming at securing large portions of the Baltic coast, as well as key city of Riga. SHAEF reports that all objectives of so called "Operation Dragoon" has been achieved throughout last two months. Important development close to Transilvanian front: 1st Hungarian Armoured Division has been repulsed around Paulis by Romanian determined resistance. Allied attack towards Rimini aided by capture of the important town of Coriano. Earlier, back in 1941, the town of Kolozsvar (Kosice in Slovakian) were bombed, what effectively pushed Hungary into the war with Soviet Union. Anyway, it seems that Axis forces are seen retreating up north - perhaps the Soviet Air Force finally do the tipping? In other news: The Soviet 3rd Ukrainian Front occupies the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. The Second Quebec Conference ends, no official statements are released to the public. In accordance with a call from the Danish National Council in London, workers in Denmark went on strike starting at noon to protest the transfer of about 190 Danish political prisoners to Germany. The strike mostly affects the transportation system. Hitler is said to have made decision concerning German offensive capabilities in the near future, yet no further details are available.
