First wargame was AH's 1776, which my impertinent boyish curiosity led me to discover in an aunt's sewing room - she'd bought it from a magazine ad thinking it was a book she'd give to a friend, apparently, and on receipt had set it aside without another thought until I dug it up. Which just goes to show that you can end up with a life sentence for someone else's mistake.
