RE: Complaints about 103 - Herr Straße Laufer - 07-19-2008 Ivan Wrote:Ed, I am sure you are a nice guy and I don't want to argue with you. I don't mind debate or speaking frankly. I do wish you would tone it down a bit though, e.g. asking if I speak English in this response. And, here I thought you were talking to my wife and found out that I am not a nice guy after all. I only asked if you spoke and understand English because some members who do not have English as a first language may misunderstand the nuances of English phraseology. I was going to get a member, from whatever country of your origin, who spoke English to help translate. Though, I can see that you might have been reading my words like I was Satan, and it drove your understanding. In that I cannot really blame you. :) Ivan Wrote:I don't really want to go over it all again by pointing out where you said things I object to etc. Lets leave it that and move on. I am willing to bury the hatchet if you are? I also believe you have a right to your opinion and I apologise if I've upset you in any way, it wasn't intended. Glad you have come to that conclusion. I am more against the machine than any one individual. I hope that I never gave you the impression that you could not state your belief. I believe in clarity. Though, I believe in what I have written I know that saying them over and over does get tedious. Bury the hatchet? Can I be in the other room when you do? ;) Ivan Wrote:I have been a member of this club many years and really enjoyed my time here and the people I have met and played with. I don't want to put that in jeopardy and leave the club over a silly argument. This disagreement had me contemplating that at one point. I, too, would never leave the club over a silly argument. I might have considered leaving but, not due to anyone's words. I also wish you the best. RE: Complaints about 103 - Mike Abberton - 07-19-2008 Erik, Someone else suggested another way to do a similar thing ragarding knowing or not knowing disrupted units. That would be to add broken status to the game. Disrupted could be a hidden quality to the enemy that suggests command and control has broken down among the disrupted units reducing their effectiveness, but would be difficult to evaluate from the other side. Assaulting disrupted units (and undisrupted units) might use the new rules. The attacker would get a bonus to assault, but wouldn't know about it beforehand. Broken status would be visible to the enemy and would represent units beginning to rout, breaking cover, etc., i.e. a complete breakdown of their ability to defend themselves. Assaulting broken units could probably work very similar to the old rules, meaning as long as sufficient force was used, it would succeed. To keep things simple, non-combat units would essentially always be broken from the point of view of resisting an assault (but not subject to any other broken effects like increased movement costs, etc.) Mike RE: Complaints about 103 - Wolfman - 07-19-2008 No offence guys, but it's threads like this that have delayed my conversion to the Matrix edition, please play nicely and give me a reason to update;) RE: Complaints about 103 - Cole - 07-19-2008 Wolfman Wrote:No offence guys, but it's threads like this that have delayed my conversion to the Matrix edition, please play nicely and give me a reason to update;) Wolfman, I wouldn't let the recent conversations and arguments over the latest patch stop you from picking up the Matrix version of the game. 99.99% of the time our Campaign Series forums are very civil and mellow. It's just that a big change came along that took a few people by surprise and out of that a few guys started a little shoving back and forth. Happens every Saturday night at any bar or pub but hardly ever on this forum. The Matrix edition is great value for money. I paid the same price as the Matrix CD as I did for each Talonsoft edition of CS (EF, WF, RS, EF #2, etc). For better or worse the Matrix edition is the future of Campaign Series and great opponents can be found here. That's worth a lot. RE: Complaints about 103 - Ivan - 07-19-2008 Cole Wrote:Wolfman, Yes, he's right don't be put off. It's a great game that's been around for a long time and will be around for a long time to come. The fact that people can argue about it demonstrates it matters otherwise people would not care. RE: Complaints about 103 - Herr Straße Laufer - 07-19-2008 Ivan Wrote:The fact that people can argue about it demonstrates it matters otherwise people would not care. Amen to that! I know that when I am done arguing I may also be done with the game itself. But, that is a different matter altogether? ;) RE: Complaints about 103 - Von Luck - 07-20-2008 Guys im glad your all on speaking terms again maybe i shoudnt put up any more posts damn i dont want a civil war at the blitz. |
