Suggestions for Books - Von Dondo - 10-25-2006 I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good reading on the following subjects... 1. The fighting in the Solomon Islands in the SW Pacific (more so towards the ground and air campaigns instead of the naval campaigns, even though they are intertwined) 2. The naval campaigns to seize control of the Mediterranean from 1939-1943 3. The Soviet process / efforts to dismantle their industry during the first weeks of the war and move it farther east Thanks, vD RE: Suggestions for Books - Herr Schacht - 10-25-2006 Interesting subjects. I know of two books not directly related to the subject matter your inquiring about that may be of interest. Both were authored by William Manchester. The first, "Goodbye, Darkness" is his personal memoir of the pacific war. In it he revisits the various island chains he helped liberate from the Japanese. His perspective is interesting because it's from the infantry level. The second, "The Arms of Krupp" is a long, tedious at times read, but he does discuss the mechanisms by which the Reich requisitioned and relocated Russian industrial facilities during the war. He also discusses how post-war reparations worked as well. Though not directly related, you may find it interesting.
