Value of Opponent Intel. - Fubar - 12-13-2006 Just lately I have started to keep a log book of my games of CM. I note my opponent, the size of game and type of game, the types of tactics that they used and the units that were involved on both sides and of course the outcome. I started doing this just as a bit of fun and to keep a more detailed record of my games but I now realize that it is also a good source of Intel on my regular opponents. Looking back over the pages you can see that some players tend to use similar tactics again and again and that certain units seem to get picked more often than others. This gives me more idea now what to buy in QB games, something that always gives me pause for thought. I was just wondering if any of you do something similar or am I the only Muppet here. RE: Value of Opponent Intel. - Der Kuenstler - 12-14-2006 I keep a record of who I've played and when. I will type "SLOW" by their name if they take too long to return turns, and "QUITTER" if they quit on me. I don't usually play them again. If someone is a dangerous player I'll cycle through all of his units after a battle and see what he bought, trying to understand why I lost. Other than two players I haven't noticed a lot of signature tendencies. It would give you an advantage if you knew them, though... RE: Value of Opponent Intel. - Saint Ruth - 12-14-2006 That's interesting. What different type of tactics are there? RE: Value of Opponent Intel. - Fubar - 12-14-2006 RE: Value of Opponent Intel. - Zemke - 12-14-2006 Once upon a time I used to keep a log of players, and their return rate per week. I even went so far as to post the Top Ten fastest return rate players on the old message board.........uh yeah I had a lot of games going back then. Now I pretty much don't care, as long as the game is moving along at some kind of pace, and as for tactics, I can generally tell what they are trying to do to me (or have done to me). There are certain tactics that I look for that I feel pose a particularly significant threat to my own tactics. I would be interested to know if the Fighter-Bomber guy is winning those games, and have you responded by purchasing more ADA? RE: Value of Opponent Intel. - Fubar - 12-14-2006 I haven't spent more points on AA units as it just seemed a waste, tried them once and they didn't do a thing really. Instead i keep AFV's spaced out and more importantly buttoned up, had a whole platoon where one bomb landed in the middle of the formation and killed every one of the commanders. :hissy: The first few games against them really threw the brown stuff into the fan but now i'm more prepared for them, i've only lost two AFV's in our current game. :whis: RE: Opponent Intel. / AA - Mad Baron - 12-15-2006 |
