Ran out of smoke shells?? - Copper - 12-27-2006 Remember troops and vehicles can advance under the cover of burning wheat fields, buildings, woods etc. I sometimes at the start of a QB screen areas of by using my flamethrower squads to make a wall of fire. And in the desert the dust clouds kicked up by your armour can be used to shield an infantry advance. RE: Ran out of smoke shells?? - Mike Abberton - 12-27-2006 Dropping a building usually creates quite a cloud, too. And double bonus if there were some enemy troops in it when it goes down. Of course charge for the rubble it leaves behind, because rubble is decent defensive terrain. ------------------------------ A related tip: If you think/know that your opponent is the "blow up every building in sight" type, place your squads in foxholes behind the building (based on the expected axis of advance). Your opponent conveniently turns those light building deathtraps into a nice rubble defensive locations, and the troops nearby in foxholes don't typically take much/any damage from the nearby building collapse. If you're opponent won't oblige and blow up the building, sneak a rifle team or better yet an LMG or an AT rifle into the building to draw fire. Have them fire for a turn and then beat feet out of the building. Sometimes you can even shoot through the corners of the building top draw fire. Most people will assume that an "infantry sounds" contact is coming from the building not from behind it. Snipers don't work as well to draw fire, since they are very hard to spot. |
