Your nightmares? - Sentry - 03-01-2007 Maybe this topic has already been at this forum but it never hurts to ask again :) So..what are the most fearsome things that you would never want to encounter on the battlefield? Im talking about Spwaw and WW2 here, lets leave the Spmbt horrors for another time ;) I start with my own fears, just dont start using them against me in masses now LOL :whis: As i play with soviets usually, most of the things i dont like to meet are from German OOB, so here they are: 1) Panther. SoB has almost impenetrable front armor, only 122mm seems to have a chance of getting through. And its gun is a death to soviet tankers to.... 2) Somewhat cheaper but not less fearsome is Stug, especially in early or middle war. Well sloped front armor and its hard to kill with 76mm guns. 85mm makes it a bit easier though.. 3) 75mm PAK40. Smaller than famous 88, but almost as deadly as that. Hard to spot and kill, this has caused me a lot of grief and ruined the day more than once  4) US rangers. Very annoying pain in the butt. Armed with semi-automatic rifles or Thompson, carrying Bazooka with HE and HEAT, these guys can stop russians or germans or both in their tracks or boots. 5) B-25H Mitchell. Its a flying death and hard to bring down. 75mm and rockets blast every tank they hit and .50 cals and bombs make life very hard for onboard artillery or infantry formations. The bastard doesnt come down easily too, though one hit is enough to make it head for home(strange!!). Waiting for your horrors now, i have my notebook ready lol Sentry RE: Your nightmares? - Montana_Prussian - 03-01-2007 RE: Your nightmares? - Sentry - 03-01-2007 I never knew that 8mm Breda is good? I have never achieved good results with it. But the 13mm italian machinegun is better. And i definetly agree with MG-42. It can take out a russian squad in one burst sometimes. I like the .50 cal for it's devastating effects on soft vehicles, and I've destroyed a few German half-tracks with it as well. RE: Your nightmares? - Vesku - 03-01-2007 SPWW2 mortars, any size RE: Your nightmares? - PzHeinZ - 03-02-2007 Sentry Wrote:1) Panther. Speaking of being impenetrable frontal (or any side) armour my nightmare would be the ultra-sloped IS-3 and IS-4. In skilled hands these are very hard to kill. I have been having a game against an opponent and have bombarded his IS-4s with dozens of 88mm/L71 shells, but they only are effective from less than 10 hexes! From that distance the IS-4 can hit you easily too. RE: Your nightmares? - Alby - 03-02-2007 waiting on turns from Sentry is my nightmare.. RE: Your nightmares? - Von Bismarck - 03-02-2007 Ahhh..nice post Martin ;) Well, since I ever play with poor Fritz when facing Sentry`s barbarian hord I could say ths soviet arty is a real pain in the ass Mainly the 120mm mortars. Another thing is the low cost of Ivan tanks but since I learned to better employ my PAK fronts, things have changed a lot, right Sentry? ;) RE: Your nightmares? - Montana_Prussian - 03-02-2007 I have to agree with Russkie ARTY,WHEN it's on target RE: Your nightmares? - Sentry - 03-02-2007 To alby: LOL that wasnt nice Im trying to get the turn out, but mailbox was malfunctioning and now im in a hurry to get a test done at uni. But...maybe in day or two...never loose hope ;) To Bismarck: Your PAKs have always been pain in the ass, thats why its in my nightmare list :P BUT...i feel that i have started to cope with them more succesfully ;) Sentry |
