Pacific Twilight Round 4 begins - klanx171 - 03-06-2007 Round 3 of Pacific Twilight was (I think) the bloodiest yet. Round 3 saw the Japanese finaly get stopped but not driven back with stalemates in 2 of the 3 battle zones. Darwin saw heavy fighting in the town and on the beach and even before the attackers (Japan) got ashore but was marred by the dreaded 54 bug, which turns any Japanese Cavalry loaded into a boat from a meek and mild unit of 15 men and horses into 54 unstoppable manicas, sorta like converting them into Mongols or something. But The the invaders made it ashore but were unabble to get a complete victory and had to take an unsteady partial victory as the Ozzies and US made off for the hills to fight another day. Special mention for Weasel who fought off Veskus Japanese hordes (including the dreaded 54s) and still managed to pip him at the post for VHs and thereby win the battle, superb! Port Morseby saw firece combat in a variety of weather, The USMC managed to also stop the Japanese from total victory although at a high cost. US and Japanese Tanks clashed and med died fighting for the hills the protect the port, the last Allied Bastion in Papua New Guinea, now an outpost surrounded and underseige. Special mention To Jadpanther for his reverse Banzai charge which saw him go straight up the guts of his Opp and manage to pull out a draw after 20 rounds of savage combat, well done. Kwajelian Atoll saw the USMC get one back as the defenders on Roi and Namur were first blasted and then overrun but angry marines bent on revenge, the fighting was quick but bloody and by the end of the first day the tiny Atolls were under new ownership. Honourable mention to Tank Jockey for taking on an almost impossible mission in the face of what the Marines dropped on him and who fell in battle (and was eliminated from the tourney) but who never flinched in the face of such awesome fire. but that was round 3..... Round 4, sees the 12 remaining players battle it out in the final round (excepting the possible bonus round in the event of a draw) over 4 different battlegrounds and with a wide range of battle types. Midway Atoll - The Japanese seek to capture this vital base as a prelude to taking Hawaii and cutting the allied war effort in the pacific off at the source. Australia - In the outback the Japanese push a slave labour built railroad straight for the allied base at Alice Springs across inhospitable desert while the Ozzies (fresh from fighting in the desert and the middle East (to be coverd in European Twilight at some future date)) lie in wait... elsewhere.... Fiji - The allies launch a sneak (surprise) attack at a giant japanese airbase being built at Nandi, but will the Japanese be caught napping? The Aleutians - In the Cold North Pacific US Army troops battle for control of vital terrain amid snow and ice as the Allies intensify their push for Japan along the northern route. Well thats whats going to be happening in this round. All players should know the drill by now and be sending me their numbers so we can get round 4 off as soon as possible. Congrats to those who did so well this round and Comiserations to those who didnt and those who fell in battle. check the site for more details and scores... http://danieldominey.tripod.com/index.html |
