Blowing in the wind - PoorOldSpike - 04-21-2007 Wind DOES affect accuracy as shown by these tests. I simply logged the Hit chance for each Russian unit in still air, then went back into the editor and changed the wind to 'Strong' from the north, (ie- blowing from right to left in the pic) and ran it again. The drift is very slight with typical tank guns, but is predictably more pronounced with the lower-velocity 76mm IG. (Incidentally I had to put the AT-Rifle further forward because his max range is 800m) Conclusions -There's nothing we can do about drift anyway, its a fact of life so let's not worry about it.. :) For statistics freaks here are the test figures - STALIN hit chance in still air v Pz II/ PzIVH/ TIGER = 32/ 37/ 42 ----------------- strong wind ---------------------28/ 33/ 38 T-34/85 ----------still air--------------------------31/ 36/ 42 -----------------strong wind-----------------------27/ 32/ 37 T-34/76 ----------still air--------------------------26/ 30/ 35 -----------------strong wind-----------------------23/ 26/ 31 T-70---------------still air-------------------------26/ 30/ 34 ------------------strog wind---------------------- 23/ 26/ 30 T-60--------------still air--------------------------39/ 44/ 49 ----------------strong wind------------------------32/ 36/ 41 76IG--------------still air--------------------------19/ 22/ 25 ----------------strong wind-----------------------14/ 16/ 18 AT-Rifle----------still air---------------------------28/ 32/ 37 ----------------strong wind-----------------------25/ 29/ 34 "How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind".. -Bob Dylan RE: Blowing in the wind - RedDevil - 04-21-2007 It would be nice if tables would line up correctly on these posts wouldn't it? :) from the German POV I imagine the to hit drops are not as much based on the speed of the rounds? RE:Blowing in the wind - PoorOldSpike - 04-21-2007 RE: Blowing in the wind - RedDevil - 04-21-2007 no problems, they display just like that, but it'd be nice if we could inlay tables and have it all neato RE:Blowing in the wind - PoorOldSpike - 04-21-2007 |
