Unit's color - matxer - 05-29-2007 Game: M44 (patch 1.01) View: 2D, zoom-in. The Soviet units are of 2 colors: beige and orange (divisional stuff off). What is the meaning of the 2 different colors ? RE: Unit's color - Glenn Saunders - 05-29-2007 matxer Wrote:Game: M44 (patch 1.01) Well, I am sitting in the Kansis Airport returing from the Tillercon (GREAT Event BTW and hats off to Grr for the Tournament) Anyway - not looking at the game but I think the situation you might be looking at is a GUARDS unit in the Orange and the just normal Russian Army in beige - although I would call them more brown. Note it is possible to have Guards and non-Guards units within the same divisions too. Glenn RE: Unit's color - matxer - 05-29-2007 And what does GUARDS mean practically ? Do they enjoy special powers or features ? RE: Unit's color - Boston33 - 05-29-2007 Guards units are generally of higher quality. They usually have a C quality mod whereas many Russian regulars are rated as a D. Historically, in 1941 it was decided that some regular rifle divisions would be reorganized and designated guards divisions. Like the Waffen-SS they had different ranks. In game terms, they are usually your only marginally dependable forces (well for me anyways as I play the Axis usually). RE: Unit's color - FLG - 05-29-2007 Guards was a moniker given to units which had performed particulalry well in combat and with courage. It was an honour for a unit to be made a Guards unit. How this is represeneted in the game varies but generally it is represented by a unit having better moral than the std soviet troops. They also may have slightly better combat values. RE: Unit's color - Jazman - 05-29-2007 In Stalingrad if you look at some of the later smaller scenarios you see Guards units that never show up in the main campaign. It's because some of those units in the campaign were promoted to Guards status during the game's time frame. But the game can't handle that. |
