RE: Largest CM OP or Scen out there. - Cos32 - 06-14-2007 The best games of CM I ever had were on massive custom made maps where each player purchased his forces themselves in the editor as you would in a QB. One game I played was over 40,000 points each. Both of us wern't gamey players so it wasn't all elite SS, King tigers et cetera, and it was a very fun, although time consuming game. Very difficult finding people who are willing to play anything 10k+. Some don't believe CM supports itvery well, but I disagree. RE: Largest CM OP or Scen out there. - ekrommen - 06-15-2007 I've read that this is a good monster scenario, although I havent playd it yet: Our Backs to the Volga RE: Largest CM OP or Scen out there. - Extraordinarius - 06-16-2007 If you wire yourself over to http://www.cmmods.com/ there is an assortment of maps labelled 134CMAKMAPSTHEIKE.zip and that is just what it is. some of these are so huge that forces of 5000 points could spend thirty or forty turns just trying to find each other. I'm not sure my computer will stand it, but I am willing to try a megagame - 10000 to 20,000 points. Any takers? It is pretty much finished and I will be updating the file in the next couple days. I will send you the latest version if you would like to take a look, the one here in the H2H section is one version behind at the moment. Total points is right around the 10,000 level, mostly infantry with a good sprinkle of armour. RE: Largest CM OP or Scen out there. - Nikita - 06-16-2007 I've played battles in meta campaign, including infantry regiments and mechanised brigades with several tank battalions and infantry battalions under my command with good heavy arty support. Maps were about 3x3km. The tasks were not to capture the flags and casualties were tracked from battle to battle. In my opinion, big battles are the only way to get the real feeling of beatiful CMBB engine and get real taste of WWII: you begin to value the arty and HMGs and any weird results of individual engagements become negligeable due to scale. And necessity to mind your losses (enemy can switch reinforcements to your sector and you might be unable to consolidate your gains in next battles) makes the entire thing much more demaning.
