Reincorporation of skirms/cav squadrons - jonnymacbrown - 08-02-2007 As mentioned in my post on the reincorporation of skirmishers to the parent unit in the thread on fighting in towns; it is possible to so the same thing with cavalry squadrons. Let's say you have a cavalry battalion of 425 men, which would break down into 3 suadrons of c. 100 men leaving the parent unit with c.125. You keep the parent unit in reserve and fight with the squardons. When they accumulate fatigue you can reincorporate them back into the parent unit and regain fatigue. Say squadron A accumulated 350 points of fatigue and was down to 75 men, squadron B 325 points and down to 50 men and C 275 fatigue points 75 men. The squadron with the most fatigue should be reincorporated first. The parent unit will pick up 100 fatigue points and send out a new squadron with 100 pts. of fatigue and 100 men leaving the parent with 50 men! Then reincorporate squadron B. The parent will go up to 100 men with 200 fatigue points. If you create and other squadron of 100 men with 200 fatigue points you'll lose the parent unit forever, but have a fresh squadron. This is not a "gamey" tactic but rather a game feature and the reason why there are designated parent units that absorb squadron/skirmish co. losses and fatigue. von ege  RE: Reincorporation of skirms/cav squadrons - FM WarB - 08-02-2007 Happily, that tactic, "gamey" or not is kissed goodbye if cavalry appear as squadrons, not regiments in the oob. A cavalry squadron is equivilent to an infantry batalion, so treating cav this way is realistic. Squadrons can break down into troops for scouting type missions, but need to stay concentrated to form sufficient mass for effective charges. |
