Early war - Weasel - 11-09-2007 First game is completed, you may check the website for the result. Note to all players: please do not post any results on the Blitz until all games are done so I can see if it was a balanced game or not. I will then notify to go ahead and post, or I will use the shadow system. RE: Early war - shortreengage - 11-10-2007 That was a most excellent scenario. Thanks! Those Russian knock off FT18s were giving me a head ache though... RE: Early war - brm_3k - 11-10-2007 Making up time after a false start........ Any other Russian Commanders finding that the FT18's won't use AP against Polish armour?? Alex brm_3k RE: Early war - shortreengage - 11-10-2007 brm_3k Wrote:Making up time after a false start........ I had to close to 50m (ie 1 hex) to get any effects. I killed 5. 3 with 37mm ATGs, one by close assault, and one with 2 of my FT18s firing at point blank range. Never thought I'd be wishing I had ATRs. RE: Early war - Grumbler - 11-10-2007 I haven't killed any yet. I'm set up for rear and flank shots only. Iwo Jim isn't co-operating. He is keeping them behind that solid wall of Russian cannon fodder. On the other hand, they aren't doing any damage back there. I'm holding off the hordes for now, but I think it will get nasty when I run out of arty ammo. Then I will have to hold for about 4 turns with just rifles and MG's. RE: Early war - Greybeard - 11-11-2007 Hello Guys, Walrus and I are about done.. turn 18.. but he's off and about for a bit.. Those little tanks have been a great help in town.. the poles don't seem to have much to fight them with in the streets.. ATR's would have been very helpful to Walrus I think.. And.. the size of those polish squads.. 20 men?? is that historical?? seems that they never take casualties in 1's and 2's - it been frequently 2's and 3's.. high numbers of troops down at once really seems to obviate the experience advantage that the poles have.. Great game though.. thanks for the work Chris.. Steve RE: Early war - Grumbler - 11-11-2007 19 men. The trucks only carry 18, which just makes them about uasless, except for dragging Infantry guns around. Scrap the wagons and eat the horses:pullhair: The heavy truck would have been better, then the Poles would have had a little mobility advantage to offset the huge numerical advantage of the rooskies.:boom2: You could load a squad and still pull a gun (I think) with htat as a mobil reaction force, the Russians would have a much harder time of it. Turn 14 here and my cannons are melting. About two more turns and I'll be down to the 'Z' key to keep them pinned. Then we will see if Iwo goes for the flags with his armor. That will give me the shots I want at his tanks. If I make them, it's a draw, if I miss, he wins. RE: Early war - Stonefire - 11-11-2007 shortreengage Wrote:brm_3k Wrote:Making up time after a false start........ Gentlemen Are you aware of that one of the units in the Polish cavalry (the 01 unit) has some anti tank capacity - I killed one tank with that (in close assault) and for the use of AP - yes I had the same experience - it is discussed generally in another tread here - somthing about the game chosing HE if it has better chance to kill, than the AP rounds! RE: Early war - Tide1 - 11-11-2007 Gents I caught a show on the Military Channel Friday about the German invasion of Poland. In the show it stated the Polish cavalry was very well equiped with anti tank guns. Gary RE: Early war - Grumbler - 11-12-2007 That was in 1939. I guess it shows the Poles learned their lesson from the 1920 and 21 series of battles with Russia.:chin: |
