Tobruk books... - Gasbag - 11-13-2007 I'm looking for a good book that covers the siege of Tobruk (specifically the 1941 battles/operations). Can anyone suggest a title? Thanks. RE: Tobruk books... - Jim von Krieg - 11-13-2007 One I have on my shelf, but have not read yet was written in 1999. It is called Tobruk: The Great Siege Reassessed by Frank Harrison. I buy more books than I can read, always with the notion that when I retire I'll have plenty of history to catch up on. In his forward, the author states this book is to extend recognition to 70th Division for its subsequent role at Tobruk after the departure of the Aussies, which he believes is overlooked in history. This book is broken into three segments, the Siege, the Breakout, and an assessment of Rommel in 1941. Kuriltai RE: Tobruk books... - D-Day_Dodger - 11-22-2007 I understand that a new book on Tobruk called An Aliens Guide to Second World War Battlefields by Kang and Kudos is supposed to be released by Random House in time for Xmas. However, translation problems could delay its release. |
