How to add scenarios .. - Spud - 12-12-2007 Guys ... Have a question about adding new scenarios to game. I've managed to add scenarios that don't have eqp. files, but want to play a Taiwan-China scen and a Custer scen - both of which come with eqp. files ... Where do I put said eqp. files and how do I do it ... ? Cheers ... Spud RE: How to add scenarios .. - Currahee - 12-13-2007 Put the .eqp file in a folder with the same name as the scenario (but without the .sce file extension); ie, the folder would be named "Custer" if that's the name of the scenario...and then put the folder into the Graphics folder in your game directory. For a little more detail, see "Custom Files in TOAW III", under "Important Threads", above. RE: How to add scenarios .. - Spud - 12-13-2007 Thanks for the prompt response Currahee .. Now I have another question - which is not in the TOAW III trouble shooting section. I have downloaded a couple of scens from Rugged Defense website and they include additional "applications" for CoW .. are these compatable with TOAW III .. ? And if so can I simple add them to program files .. - one comes with a scen about Zulu wars and the other in a scen about Turkish invasion of Cyprus .. The other question concerns ool and mal files ... which are included in a game about Israel's war on terror .... where do I put the ool ... Sorry to sound like a dumbass .. but have only recently switched to TOAW III after problems with Campaign Series and Vista got to much for me. Am finding TOAW a great game so far ... Spud ... RE: How to add scenarios .. - Currahee - 12-13-2007 Hey Spud, with questions like that, there's no danger of you sounding like a dumbass; that's more likely to happen to the guy trying to answer them! Those "applications" or "executables" are not compatible with TOAW III; at least, they're not intended to be used with it. They are the old, pre-TOAW III method of changing the .eqp files; you used to have to build the modified .eqp files into an executable, and then you ran that executable, instead of the regular COW game engine. But now, in TOAW III, we have the more elegant method of just switching in the custom .eqp file, and playing the game from the regular, TOAW III executable. Jose Maria Serrano, who did many of those old .exe files, was active in the playtesting of TOAW III, and I think was instrumental in getting the system modernized to switch .eqp files "on the fly". So, you could copy the modified COW .exe into your TOAW III directory, and double click on it, but you'd then have a huge mess on your hands, because you'd be running a modified COW executable in your TOAW III directory; not recommended. Re: the ool and mal files, you don't have to put them anywhere; the game doesn't need them. The designer has merely exported from his scenario, the map (.map for old, normal sized scenarios; .mal for "map-large"); and the oob (.oob for old, normal sized scenarios; .ool for "oob-large"). This is so other scenario designers can "import" into their scenarios, and use, his map, and oob. RE: How to add scenarios .. - RedDevil - 12-13-2007 thread hijack here.. :) Spud The Matrix Version of the campaign series runs fine on Vista and we're about to release patch 1.03 for the holidays.. just thought you'd might want to know RE: How to add scenarios .. - Spud - 12-13-2007 Cheers Guys ... Firstly .. guess that exlains why am having a few problems with one of the Vietnam Campaigns I downloaded and added to TOAW III .... Secondly ... no need for ool and mal files is noted ... And thirdly ... am awaiting the CS 1.03 patch for my Chirstman gift .. cos' have had nothing but trouble with the 1.02B patch ... Spud ... |
