Excellent Artillery Website - Cross - 02-08-2008 Despite the unassuming address, this is the by far the best WWII artillery website I've seen: http://members.tripod.com/~nigelef/maindoc.htm#OPERATIONAL%20METHODS Its focus is on British artillery, but this also covers Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India. It explains everything you ever wanted to know, including stuff like: How counter-battery works (using flash/bang to calculate distance and triangulation) The influence of WWI on artillery evolution Direct fire hit probability for various weapons (even after barrel wear) Organization, command and control Barrage concentrations (weights of fire) and their effectiveness The various roles of artillery Just full of really good stuff, which will give you a whole new understanding of this branch of the army.
