CM Game Turn File Extension Hack - 107thCav - 03-19-2008 Awhile back there was a thread regarding problems with Yahoo email not properly attaching .txt files to email. I am a SBC/Yahoo customer and some of the time when I attach files greater than 100KB my turn ends up embedded in the email rather than attached to it. Some people zip them, my alternative was to simply rename the file and change the .txt to .cm (Combat Mission does not actually care what the extension is as long as it is in deed a text file, changing the extension does nothing to the actual file contents). I recently figured out how to use a hex editor to change the CMAK/CMBB.exe file in a way that makes .cm the default save format and now I no longer have to manually change the extension, or zip my files. Its pretty easy to do. I am attaching a word document with instructions on how to do this in case anyone else would like to try it. If you have any questions about it, just drop me an email.
