Name that gun ?? - Jobu88 - 04-20-2008 Fulfilled a second to-do item and went to Aberdeen with Panzer Dan and Baron von Beergut. Came across this oddity: No idea what gun this is. But note especially the "muzzle brake." I'm an old Navy machinist mate, and I know a flange when I see one!! I'm inclined to believe that the Aberdeen folks dressed this one up with some spare piping and bolts. RE: Name that gun ?? - McIvan - 05-01-2008 I still have no idea what this is.....it looks like a bofors with a piece of scaffolding replacing the barrell. But there's no end to the wierd and wacky pieces of equipment from WWII....no doubt there is an explanation somewhere. Anyone have a clue? Leto RE: Name that gun ?? - Ratzki - 05-02-2008 It has the same muzzle shape as a bofors AA gun, save for the nuts and bolts in the picture. The recoil system is in the same place and the handcranks are as well, from what I can see. Might just be the way that the picture has been taken that makes the cal. look so large. The carrige looks too small to belong to that barrel.
