Replacement Value in OOB Editor Question - von Nev - 06-09-2008

For those that edit the OOB I have a question for you.

What does it mean when I look at a HQ unit and it has a replacement value section? In Stalingrad for all HQ units (Army down to Battalion) the replacement value is 0 (zero). What happens if I change it to 1 or more?

Thanks,

Marty

Replacement Value = zero means use the default PDT value assigned. If you enter a non-zero value, then that is used for this unit. As an example, there is a particular Tiger tNak unit (not everyone though) in Budapest, which had an ability to put a high tan normal number of tanks bank in service - this has a special higher value.

Thanks Glenn.

What exactly does it mean when I change the value to say (1) one? Is this a % increase every turn like 10% or 1 unit (as in 1 tank) every turn?

The replacement rate is in addition to the recovery rate (but the replacement rate is not adjusted with unit quality). If you have a value of 10% assigned to a unit for replacement rate, then every turn the unit may regain 10% of its strength. This depends on a host of conditions, the most important being the ability to trace a route to a supply source that is greater than 20%, and whether or not the unit is isolated (isolated units get no replacements). Beyond that, there are some other conditions, like whether or not the unit is detached from its HQ, in which case detached units get a fraction of their replacements.

Can you attach or detach units NOT Division sized?

Not sure I understand what you are asking. When I said "detached", I mean a unit being outside of its parent HQ, thus giving it an orange text label.
