Quality Fatigue Modifier - Steel God - 06-29-2008

Having not played a game in over 15 months, maybe longer, I have never seen or heard of the subject optional rule.

Do I interpret correctly that this modifier allows higher quality units to recover fatigue more rapidly? If so, it is brilliant and on the surface at least, a great way of helping certain elite units perform the miracles of fighting day after day after day (like 11th Pz Division after Stalingrad).

Hmmm, I may have to patch up and play a game. :chin:

Not quite, it effects how quickly units gain fatigue, from the manual...

Quality Fatigue Modifier
Under the Quality Fatigue Modifier Optional Rule, the fatigue a unit accumulates is modified by a factor that depends on the unit’s quality as follows:

·A Quality – 1/2 normal accumulation.
·B Quality – 2/3 normal accumulation.
·C Quality – Normal accumulation.
·D Quality – 5/4 normal accumulation.
·E Quality – 3/2 normal accumulation.
·F Quality – 2 normal accumulation.

You will have forgotten this, but about in August 06 you were playing Slasher in the stock version of S43 Two Crucial Days at DIME Beach and commented on how this was a really tough one for the Allies, i said you should try my H2H version and you said i was next in line, the rest is history............................ ;)

This is actually a better way of doing it than faster night recovery, as acquiring it is more the problem then recovering it. Very good change IMO.

"My name is Darran and I'm a war gaming addict as well!" :eek1:

Paul and Darran clasp hands and slap each other on the back!

"Will we ever be normal" mumbles Paul...........

Paul,

The QFM rule came out with the Minsk 44 game. It was brought out to help the German defense in that game hold a line with units that really are hard pressed to pull from the line to rest.

That makes sense Brian. When I was testing for HPS I always had the notion in the back of my head that it would be really tough to model the campaigns in 44 and into 45 because of the shear inability to protray the (pardon the pun) super human efforts of the Germans with the way fatigue was accumulated. I recall it being a real issue in the Korsun release.

RE: Quality Fatigue Modifier - Krak - 07-02-2008

I think QFM is a good play balance tool. In games like Uranus and Bulge I like to give it to the Germans to balance the game from being too pro allied. In games that are already fairly even or pro German I would tend not to use it. I think its one of the more 'influencial' optional rules available. You would have to give careful consideration before using it in games where the Germans are mostly 'A' units, ala K43's Welcome to the Fascists. Thats just from my experience.
