vista question with patches - Brammer - 07-07-2008 I am sure this has been answered before but, I have a new laptop and when I try to install the patches for the games I get this message from WINZIP: Extracting to "C:\Program Files\HPS Simulations\France '40\" Use Path: yes Overlay Files: yes Error: Access is denied. Cannot create C:\Program Files\HPS Simulations\France '40\#0510_01x_Campaign.scn Interrupted Does any one have any idea how to get the updates loaded on vista?? RE: vista question with patches - Mr Grumpy - 07-07-2008 Ask Rich at HPS ?? :chin: RE: vista question with patches - Krak - 07-07-2008 Hi Jim A friend of mine had the same problem. I am pretty sure he had to install the games in a folder that was not in the 'Program Files' folder. That seemed to work for him. RE: vista question with patches - Dirk Gross - 07-07-2008 Krak Wrote:Hi Jim That's essentially correct. Don't use ANY of the Windows created folders or any folders under them. Vista protects them and non-Vista programs don't work well there. Create a root folder for your games directly under the c:\ drive. I use a folder named GAMES. The only games I allow to install in the default directory are those labeled "Games for Windows". RE: vista question with patches - KG_RangerBooBoo - 07-07-2008 I just turned off the security features and had no problems. RE: vista question with patches - MasnarT - 07-07-2008 yeah , i have windows Vista and the HPS games are running great ... install to C:\HPS Simulations\Minsk '44 (for example). RE: vista question with patches - Glenn Saunders - 07-08-2008 Or I suppose one could go to the HPS Website: http://www.hpssims.com/ And click on the link right at the top of the page that says: "got VISTA™?" ...which leads to the page ... http://www.hpssims.com/vistahelp.htm |
