new RS scen #8 - Mr. Guberman - 07-22-2008 Gents, Also finished this one alongside the previous. Learned a lot about how one cannot just take an existing deployment (scen editor), copy it and redeploy and change map features...without redoing the entire scen file...what a drag. Huib?, Jason?...how can you trick a scen file to accept another OOB or map file?...anyway... "Darkness at the Tjianten", 3 March, 1942 viz: Leuwiliang, Java: After successfully thwarting the Japanese attempts to cross the Tjianten River, all day on March 2nd, the Allied "Blackforce" knew, if the Japanese remained true to form, that an attempt to cross will be made in the night. From Allied ABDA HQ at Bandung, virtually hysterical demands to hold at all costs were being received by all radios in range...and that the counterattack at Sabang had not gained the fruits expected, all of this effecting morale one way or the other. The men of "Blackforce" were holding on but replacements were nonexistant and expected reinforcements were meager. Morale remained good overall, yet on the southern part of the line the provisional regiment of Malayan and Singapore survivors was getting edgy and very tired of this game, they had seen it before. On the other side of the River, Japanese MGen Nasu is growing impatient and has received urgent comments from higher up the command chain regarding "The Emperor's Anxiety" and how it must be relieved and how the advance to Bandung must not be delayed any more. First he orders the 2nd Recon Rgt to begin moving south toward Cianton, to look for another crossing of the Tjianten. Then he orders Col Hiroyasu to throw his 16th Regiment across the river. Before the full light of dawn...Hiroyasu does. ........... The third of this series is in the works...just have to copy all of the features applicable from the previous scens onto my blank before I continue. Now that is a drag. Again...Huib, Jason...anyone? Cheers Curt RE: new RS scen #8 - Huib Versloot - 07-22-2008 Curt, You could have used the same map and org file; So Blackforce1.scn uses - Blackforce1.org and Blackforce1.map and Blackforce2.scn also uses Blackforce1.org and Blackforce1.map Then you would have been able to just open blackforce1.scn in the scn editor, relocate the units, change the title, header, description etc and then save it under a different scenario file name. You would have had to make sure that blackforce1.org contained all the units for both scenarios ofcourse. Huib RE: new RS scen #8 - Mr. Guberman - 07-23-2008 Huib, Yes, I thought of that. The OOB is the same...but...the Map file changed...only by the addition of the supply trails constructed by the Allies through the jungle behind the hills. That thwarted my ability to use the Blackforce1 scen file, because it would not recognize the Blackforce2 map, only with those small additions and I did not want to delete the Blackforce1 (original) map with a Blackforce1 mapped saved with Blackforce2 additions. I thought this through, truely looking like a chimp reposing on a stump, and could not figure it out. Looked at the scen file and saw the MAP and ORG lines...but they appear to be locked in gibberish. Thanx Curt RE: new RS scen #8 - Huib Versloot - 07-23-2008 In that case I think the only way to do it was as you did. It seems the map and org file lines are encrypted in the scn file. |
