Open Road To Moscow by Gary Cobleigh - Mr Grumpy - 07-23-2008

Open Road To Moscow
Fictional Scenario (Designed for Tillercon): August, 1942, The Germans have broken through the Russian line just West of Vyazma. The German XXXXI Panzer Corps (over strength and fully Motorized) has been ordered to exploit the break, take Vyazma and race towards Moscow. On the night of August 4, Gen. Harpe orders a Battalion of Fsch-Jag Regt. 1 to jump behind Russian lines and capture the heavy bridges across the Vyazma river allowing the 5th Panzer Division to cross the river, swiftly capture the town of Vyazma, and cut off the retreat of the Russian 20th Army. The drop is hastily planned, causing the units to be scatttered. The Russians, caught of guard, scramble to close the break, sending several Tank, and Mech. Corps towards Vyazma. Over a 4 day period, a desparate Mechanized battle ensues. German Strategy options allow Axis player to choose where his Divisions will arrive on the Western edge of the Map. Also, the remainder of FJ regiment 1 can be dropped behind the Russian lines. With multiple drop zone choices. Russian strategy options allow the Allied player to decide how soon some reinforcements will arrive. However, there is a price. Corps ordered to arrive at the earliest possible time, will arrive piecemeal. Also, this scenario is designed to be used with explicit supply. The Axis side has supply problems late in the scenario and will need to forage for supplies.

This scenario looks interesting, but it isn't clear to me what game it's for...

Vaguely recognized the title of this one, and after checking I think it is for Rzhev '42 (leastwise I got one by Gary Cobleigh with the same title in my Rzhev folder, no idea where I picked it up - maybe Glenn's site).

It is for R42, that is why this thread is located in the R42 sub forum and the files are located within the R42 scenario list in the DB. ;)
