1997 veterans - Pip Roberts - 07-23-2008 Thanks Vets. Now I know that the Campaign Series started in 1997 ! Thanks Jason, Terry (Otto von Blotto) and Gary (XLV111 PzKorps). I think it is remarkable that it has lasted so long and still has so many enthusiastic players. Thanks too to the computer wizards who have moved it through W95,W98, XP, Vista and now best of all made it available in Matrix ! I have kept a watch on most of the WWII strategy games since 1997 and though we have lost a few Grognards to Combat Mission, and a failed challenge from Monte Cristo's "Mockba to Berlin" (huge and pretty but hard to learn) I don't think any of them compare with the Campaign Series for realism. Personally I am still trying to learn the difficult Art of warfare after trying for 9 years and can't spend time learning a new platform. So huge thanks to John Tiller and his Team (including Doug Bevard who contributed 114 scenarios to EF alone) all of the skilled developers who have given us well over 1,000 realistic CS scenarios (and made other conflicts beside WWII available) and lately Jason and his team who let us play the CS without disc changing !! |
