What is the best ACW simulation ? - Jolly Roger - 08-28-2008

Hi folks.

Not sure, if I should buy Sid Meier´s Gettysburg.

What is the best AWC simulation ?

HPS ?
Talonsoft / Matrix ?
Sid Meier ?

Thanks, Klaus

Depends on the level of detail and if your into strategic or tactical simulations of that conflict. Matrix does a very good job covering Strategic in Forge of Freedom with tactical mixed in.

FoF is one of the best strategic level wargames I have ever played. It also has an excellent tactical battle engine, but that is only for play against the AI. One could I suppose, create tactical scenarios that represented the major battles of the war however, and then combine the best of both tactical and strategic into one with FoF.

I like AGEOD's 'American Civil War The Blue and the Grey', even if it's only operational based.

What a Fantastic Game!
