Manual discharge of smoke discharger rounds - Walrus - 10-12-2008

Hi Guys

This may seema stupid question since I have so many games / years of SP under the belt...but....

How do you manually force the discharge of SD rounds in ww2 and MBT?

I never thought you could do that at all...and have just realised that many of my opponents have been doing it to me for years.

After realising that was what weasel was doing in a current game, and being roundly laughed at for not knowing how to do it...I have been trying to set them off with no success at all.

I am confused.

I am using German Panthers and Jadpanthers in 6/45.
All have SD rounds available, their main guns are undamaged, they have available rounds to fire, have not moved.
I am trying to use the x key (and the tab at the side of screen) to target the hex to my front.

Nothing happens.
Is there a command key that I am missing?
I cannoy understand How my opponet can do this and I cannot.

Bloody hell!!
I have lost many a battle because I did not know I could do this trick.
I always thought I was seeing tank riding infantry firing smoke...or company commanders with smoke shells laying down a three shell screen.
I had no idea that players were discharging SD rounds manually.

Any ideas why I cannot do it...and by the way, a rousing chorus of "DUH!" is not going to help eh Big Grin

Cheers
confused walrus

Use the 'd' key to discharge smoke.
Smoke is discharged in direction where a tank turret is looking.

Thus Weasel will lose his 'vunderwaffe' advantage over you )

Ha!
Thank you very much Finji.
The 'd' key.

This is why I enjoy this club so much.
I am still learning everyday.

Thanks you for your help...
Now...to make Weasel pay for not telling me a couple of emails ago :kill:

Cheers all :eek1:

Knowledge is power.

Yesterday I've asked exactly the same question to Epoletov in our PBEM game and he shared his wisdom with me.

You must have thin flippers for a walrus - I discovered it when trying to hit the F button yonks ago!

Sheesh. With this knowledge you will be unstoppable. The Germans better watch out in the Europa Twilight tournament.

Did you know that you can manually pop infantry smoke too? Big Grin

LOL Let's all have a poke at Walrus :)

Bet you don't wonder why he chose the name Weasel now huh? :)

LOL...The tank commander gives the order to FIRE, but instead 'POP...POP...POP', the target disapears. I can see the gunner saying "oops, always wondered what that button marked 'SMOKE Discharger' did".

Makes you want to press other random buttons in the middle of a firefight just to see what happens. Eek
