Deception units....a thought - Outlaw Josey Wales - 12-27-2008 Howdy Guys, Just wondering about Deception Unit redeployment. Why not be able to have a choice of redeploying a Deception Unit like in the game or be able to have them return to the map as an active unit without having to move another unit into the same hex? In PzC I could see it having a much more random chance than in Modern Campaigns just because of the differences in communications technology, but still be able to come back on their own by your choosing to head off on another mission. Especially with the western nations in MC and western and axis nations in WW2, but not so much the Russians and WP just because of their doctrine of not deviating from the plan. Just wondering RE: Deception units....a thought - Glenn Saunders - 12-27-2008 Well this rule was developed for Bulge and thew 4 man Einheit Steilau unit which worked behind the lines. Once deployed these units were really deamed to be beyond the control of players and in fact they were never really intended to pack any combat unit punch. However the thinking is that once the Germans catch up to where these units are deployed, then they would revert back to game units to be re-deployed. They worked OK when they were ported into Modern Campaigns without any rule change we figured. Glenn RE: Deception units....a thought - Outlaw Josey Wales - 12-28-2008 I agree that porting them into MC without a problem or rules change. But I was just wondering about the SF units, not 4 man teams like in Bulge. I guess in WW2 I would be thinking more along the lines of partisans, especially the larger ones with more of a combat unit type of organization. But more about SF type units in MC than anything else. With more moderm communications, they could receive new orders and try to move on a new mission, but cannot in game terms come back to the map as a unit icon without help from another unit. I won't pound the desk demanding change, it was just something that came to me when my brain decided to work for a change. Been playing MC for a little while and it just now came to me just proves my brain doesn't always work when I am awake And thanks for taking the time to respond. That's cool and everybody knows it. :smoke: |
