Windows 7 and HPS Compatibility - Dirk Gross - 01-25-2009 I installed Windows 7 Beta x64 (Ultimate) on my spare computer today. Then I installed HPS budapest '45 with no patches to a created Games folder just like I do in vista x64. Glad to say it seems to work indentically in Win7 as it does in Vista. There is an error message at install that says Direct X unable to install. I just clicked OK and finished up. I did notice, however, a message on the top edge during gameplay when computer defensive fire was playing that says Not Responding. It goes away when the sound of firing stops. That doesn't happen in HPS Antietam when defensive fire is happening. Easy to ignore, anyway. I haven't installed ANY drivers yet beyond what Windows did at install. Windows installed ATI video drivers and my Creative X-Fi Titanium works with digital output even though it's not identified by name in the Device Manager. Besides the two HPS games, I've only installed AVG Antivirus (free version) that works with Win 7. |
