London to Bovington, advice from english pals appreciated - nikoda - 05-21-2009

Good afternoon all :)

My wife and I are planning a few days trip to England, London, by the end of June, to see a friend of her married with an englisman, and also to play the tourist litte bit :)
But I "secretely" plan to leave Madame in a very single escapade Big Grin to visit the Bovington Tank Museum / Surrey.
I got some usefull infos displayed on the museum web site, but i'm facing a problem to find out the way to go !
I know The Club is not a travel agency, but infos i got from the Net are little confusing to me, and i got only one day to enjoy this trip.
If any members would be kind enought to advice me : Which road station would be better "suited" for this trip ? If there any company specialised with this direction ?

I would be very gratefull cheers

Ps : if this is usefull : i should leave London from the northern suburb area named Enfield ( like the riffle ?)

Thanks in advance !! :)

+++ Nicolas

pps : if by train proved to be far more better, i'm not "racist" about this mean... I just enjoy more the landscape by bus :)

Are you sure your mean Bovington Surrey (which is south London) the only Bovington tank museum i know of is in Dorset which is a huge distance from London???

I think we need to sort this out first....:chin:

Hi Foul

 Yes you are right Big Grin, it is Dorset ;)

Infos i got from the museum say that it should be about 2 1/2 hours journey time London to Bovington, by bus means... I hope this is right...

Thanks

Hello Antoni

Thanks for the links.
I got the museum link already
Is this related to a direction by highway ? : London & South East - M3/M27/A31 Bere Regis/Bovington ( i can guess for A31, but M3/M27?)

I will have a close look at the other "nationalrail" link...

Thank you sir !:)

Unlike France our motorways (or auto-routes) are given the letter M, so the A31 is a major road while the M3/M27 are motorways/auto-routes. ;)

No problem Nicolas !

The M3 is a motorway and once you get to it you will be able to drive there !
