e-mailing - zap - 06-28-2009 Hi, I found an opponent to play SPWAW. I looked for the "HOW TO E-Mail" turns in the help area under WAW. The game represented there does not look like SPWAW. Is that the same procedure? If not, could someone take the time to fill me in on how to. PM me or post here. I may need a walk through. That was the case when I first learned how to e-mail with the Campaign Series. I suffer from computer density syndrom:):) RE: e-mailing - Vesku - 06-28-2009 You need to go to your spwaw folder and open email folder there. The slot you used for the battle will be the number after the emailsomething files, send all four to your opponent. Ideal is if you can zip them. Not sure if that was enough, ask away if you need more detailed instructions. RE: e-mailing - zap - 06-28-2009 Thank you for your response. Yes, I do have a follow-up question. Can you explain a little more the (folder). Is that the SPWAW folder I have on my desktop? That is to send e-mails? Or the game folder on the hard disk? I saw the slot and attempted to start a game. The game was saved to send but i had not taken a turn. Maybe the other side went first.? You do have to go into the game first to select a scenario, right? I told you I don't know much So thanks for your help and patience. Zap RE: e-mailing - Vesku - 06-28-2009 Anything you have on your computer is on your hard drive, even the folder on the desktop. I guess that it's a game menu you have on your desktop, that's not what you are looking for. The problem here is that I never install the games in the folder the install wizard offers. If I remember correctly it is c:\program files\matrix\spwaw, that's where you need to look for the email folder. In that folder are the files you need to email. "I saw the slot and attempted to start a game. The game was saved to send but i had not taken a turn. Maybe the other side went first.?" That part I don't quite understand unless your opponent has sent you files for a started scenario, in that case it only asks you for your password and then the files are ready to be sent back to your opponent. If you want to start a scenario, pick "Play by Email" and the scenario and then enter your password. After choosing the slot the files are ready to be sent to your opponent. Did you agree on who does the setup? RE: e-mailing - zap - 06-29-2009 Vesku, Thank you again for the reply. I understand now. No, no set-up was pre-determined. He's new to this as well. Could you tell me about the set-up. RE: e-mailing - Vesku - 06-29-2009 Hmm, quite a topic, set-up. That's something from which I could write a book. :) Ok, picking a scenario is easy ... or not. You can get some pointers from surfing this site. There's data and evaluations about scenarios under G-4. After choosing your poison just pick a free slot (3-12 are for PBEM) and enter your password. Email the files and you are done for the setup. A random battle has plenty more options. Choose nations, type of engagement, date, visibility, weather, number of turns, map etc. After choosing all that you need to purchase your troops, again pick a free slot and enter your password. Your oppo purchase troops and deploy. Then you'll deploy and play turn one. More details? RE: e-mailing - zap - 06-30-2009 Okay so at the minimum If I were to set up. I would have to determine all aspects of the battle? Or, at least until I become more familiar are there scenarios with predetirmined troops and such? So we could just send a selected scenario and start our turns? RE: e-mailing - Vesku - 06-30-2009 A so called random battle is where you need to setup pretty much everything. Some things you can leave for AI to choose but still many things to decide. The game comes with plenty of scenarios, they are easy to start with. All troops are already deployed on the map, all you need to do is start playing. |
