Deployment Phase for ACW Campaigns - Outlaw Josey Wales - 07-03-2009

I'd like to know what the possibilities are of this happening instead of being stuck with the computer deployment from one battle to the next.

I am currently in several battles and camps. In one I had one div get mauled and when going to the next battle, all my forces were deployed in the front line with no reserves and yankees covering the line from one end to the other. All my opp has to do is look for the double digit rgts and make his main effort there. And with no reserves or gaps in the yankee line to be able to pull somebody out of my line and rush them there, it ends up being a run for your life issue or stay in place and have your whole army become isolated. And as that works out each battle produces another mauled div so that each battle starts with more and more double digit rgts holding the line. In one deployment, I had a mountain with strong forces up there, but with the weak units at the left side of my line and no trails or roads to get off the mountain, those forces there will be lost as well. I would never have put arty, let alone too many forces up there without some way to get out.

I'd like to see a free deployment saying my army can be deployed anywhere east of this line or whatever. If I control the actions of the whole army, I would think I would have control of how they are deployed for the next battle.

I guess the same would go for any of the games that have that type of campaign...ACW, Naps, EAW etc.

Thanks

Off the top of my head, HPS Atlanta has a meeting engagement campaign. There might be a few other later produced games that also have meeting engagement campaigns. Playing the campaigns with weather 'on' also helps to reduce LOS. Eventually all games in the series will have weather.

Many of the other games do have individual meeting engagement scenarios, such as HPS Antietam.

I already knew about the meeting engagements. I'm talking about going from battle to battle in the campaigns and having a deployment phase to set my army myself instead of the ai.
