Low fuel - jonnymacbrown - 07-09-2009 How do low fuel effects get resolved with virtual supply? How are they caused with virtual supply? Jonny Mac RE: Low fuel - Ricky B - 07-09-2009 I believe, off the top of my head, that the only major difference between using the virtual supply rule and standard is that with VST, the supply level for each hex is calculated, per the supply rules, based on distance from the "best" supply source for that hex - in other words, the longer the distance, the lower supply will be to a hex, generally. With the standard rule, supply is assumed to reach every hex at the same level. That is for the check itself, for fuel occuring on the first turn on or after midnight. Once a unit is low fuel, I think the procedure is the same for recovering from it with both rules. Per the User Manual, a check is made: At the beginning of each turn other than the midnight turn, a Refueling Test is performed, but with only a pecentage chance of passing compared with a normal Refueling Test. The percentage used is the Refuel Percentage value determined by Parameter Data. The range to its HQ is part of this test also. Or else on the following midnight turn if the unit succeeds in the low fuel check, it automatically goes back to normal fuel status. Rick RE: Low fuel - jonnymacbrown - 07-09-2009 So there is a check every turn. That's what I wanted to know. I thought maybe a unit had to spend an entire day in low fuel. Thanx. JM RE: Low fuel - Ricky B - 07-09-2009 As long as the percentage is not 0, and I don't believe any games are set to 0. Just make sure the HQs involved are close to the low fuel units, and not isolated, and then hope for in command status or there is no check. Lot's of things can go wrong, but the low fuel units should slowly recover during the day. RE: Low fuel - Glenn Saunders - 07-09-2009 jonnymacbrown Wrote:So there is a check every turn. JM Inthe USER DOC under Main Features => Supply => Fuel Supply Problems ...it says: "All non-Headquarters units other than Foot, Ski, Bicycle, Horse, Naval, and Rail units are subject to running Low On Fuel if they move or assault (for this purpose, changing Travel Mode or moving by Rail Mode is not considered movement). " This check for Low Fuel to occur is ONCE per turn. It goes on to say "Once a day, at the beginning of the midnight turn, a Refueling Test is performed on every applicable unit that has moved or assaulted since the last time the test was performed." So - the REFUELING to Correct Low Fuel is once per Day - this is historical because the refueling was done at night normally. Glenn RE: Low fuel - Ricky B - 07-09-2009 Hi Glenn, Units definitely go low fuel just once per day, on the midnight turn, and can recover throughout the day. The first part of the passage is a bit unclear as to what the Refueling Test is that occurs on the midnight turn, although the rest of the passage you quoted from does discuss the results of the failure of the midnight Refueling Test. Overall, it is kind of clear but not specifically stated that the midnight "Refueling Test" is the test for low fuel, while the other turns are a test for recovery from low fuel, until the end anyway. I think the line near the end of the first paragraph defines it that way User's Manual Wrote:Failing the Refueling Test and becoming Low On Fuel represents a failure of the unit...where the entire paragraph discusses the midnight Refueling Test, and this states that the midnight test is the one that results in low fuel, based on this quote. The last 2 paragraphs of the Fuel Supply Problems section cover the recovery portion quite well: User's Manual Wrote:Units that become Low On Fuel are eligible to regain their normal fuel status in two ways: The above qoute is very specific that a low fuel unit can recover throughout the day. I didn't quote the entire passage in my earlier reply but the first line of the quote states that it is for low fuel units recovering, and then point 2 is what I quoted before. I can set up tests if needed also, but I am sure it works as stated in the user guide, but maybe the quide can be tweaked a bit to make it all as clear as the quote above.
