Scenario Testing Question - Larry Reese - 07-12-2009 Okay guys, Have several kind gentlemen who are helping test one of my old scenarios and we've run into a problem. I had not set every unit that was fixed with a release time. I've gone back and made some corrections to the map, scenario, and OOB files and we're all up to date with the latest version, but the ongoing game, that was started with the old files, will not allow those fixed units to release as ordered in the new version of the scenario files. Is there any way to trip these fixed units in the current game without starting over? I tried the old way (hitting them with your own artillery) but that doesn't release any more. I"d hate to have to start a whole new testing session (this scenario is a monster but so far fun as hell). Thanks, LR RE: Scenario Testing Question - Kool Kat - 07-12-2009 Hi Larry: I'm not a big fan of fixed units - especially in H2H games. :( Are you following these directions? (Talonsoft) "To set a release for a unit or organization, you must select "Add Release" from the "Settings" pop-down menu. To ensure that you release the proper unit (or organization) you must first find the (unit's) organization among the organizations listed in the "Add Release" dialog. Note that the "Add Release" dialog only displays organizations & units that have been placed on the map (unlike the display for "Show Org..." from the "Display" menu which always shows the scenario's entire OOB). As you click on orgs in the "Add Release" dialog, the selected orgs / units will become highlighted on the map. Continue to click on listed organizations / units in the "Add Release" dialog until just that organization / unit that you wish to release is highlighted. That done, before closing the dialog you must input the turn number which you want the organization / unit to become released on (or to begin "rolling" to become released). If desired, you can adjust the chance of its being released in the "Percent Probability" box." Also, can your scenario "work correctly" if your fixed units are released only by enemy fire? :chin: I am currently playing a H2H West Front scenario (Crossing the Dives River) that features German fixed units - some have a release turn; others release by enemy fire. Maybe that can work in your scenario? RE: Scenario Testing Question - Von Earlmann - 07-12-2009 Larry, Once you start playing a scenario it creates a .bte file which locks everything from the original scenario in place.Only way to add any changes is to begin again.Early turns of a test will usually show release and reiforcement flaws hopefully you are not too far along. Earl RE: Scenario Testing Question - Larry Reese - 07-13-2009 THat's what I thought Earl, thanks for the confirmation. Well, we'll just push ahead without those reinforcements at this point. Later, LR RE: Scenario Testing Question - Von Luck - 07-14-2009 Eh excuse me who's the retired Gent butting in with info.Glad to see your still keeping tabs on us Earl enjoy your leasure time mate.
