Occupying enemy reinforcement hex - Montana Grizz - 09-12-2009

I wondered what would happen if I were to occupy an enemies reinforcement hex?

The reinforcements came on map in the reinforcement hex and pushed the occupying forces back one hex. No assault or any Op fire.

I tried again by maxing out the number of T-34's I could put in a German reinforcement hex and brought 8 Tiger platoons on map. Same thing happened. T-34's got pushed back a hex and no assault or Op fire.

Once I did fire a Tiger, all hell broke loose with Op fire and direct fire resulting in the loss of 9 T-34's and 4 Tigers.

I doubt any of you will face a situation such as this, but I was curious whether you could keep units from entering the map?

Had the reinforcements been loaded trucks, I'm guessing that the tanks would still have been forced back?

Its my understanding that the push back will happen every time no matter what. The question came up before and I think that Jason responded with that is what would happen. He can correct me if its wrong.

Chuck is right. The manual says:

Displacement – If a reinforcement group enters the map on a hex occupied by an enemy unit(s), the enemy unit(s) will be displaced into an adjacent hex (exception: air-landed reinforcement
group; see below).

Air-landed reinforcements (paradrops and gliders) arriving in an occupied hex are wiped out (i.e. captured).

A very Interesting post.
It reminded me of a few times that I have run a deep penetration and sat by the side of the road near obvious entry hexes with Opfire for trucks turned on. Once they came on and drove past while my ambushing BT7's were apparently asleep but once it really worked.
One of the many wonderful features of the CS is that it is so real you can use your imagination and recreate realistic situations!!
