Greetings - Ratel - 10-30-2009 Hi Guys, Just a quick intro of myself. I joined today. Although I started with SP since SP1 came out, I haven't played it in recent years. I am very rusty and will have to work through the manual. I also have to download the latest patches. I think my Camo version is patched up to around 2.1? Does that patch exist? Anyways, give me a bit of time to get settled, after which I would like to get involved in whatever goes on here :cheeky: I will obviously have some questions at some point, as some of the terminology you guys use, leaves me with a question mark. I am obviously clueless as to how things work around here. :) Looking forward to getting started. Cheers RE: Greetings - Vesku - 10-30-2009 Perhaps the best way to get you immersed is to get a mentor for a game or two. I guess you need some patching, winSPMBT is ver4.5 and winSPWW2 is ver3.5 .... I think, I'm at work so I dropped those from memory which is failing all the time. RE: Greetings - Walrus - 10-30-2009 Hi Ratel Welcome to the SP ladder. As Vesku said (good on ya for doing so..) there are players here willing to help you get back in the groove. A mentor game isn't scored (or perhaps agreed as a draw before starting, or whatever), it's more of a running Q&A game where you can hopefully learn some new tricks without getting thumped for your trouble, as such. Or...just dive right in. Get yourself patched up. If you have not played for a while, you might not be aware that the CAMO guys posted the game from DOS to Windows OS a while back. You'll need to get the latest versions from Shrapnel (they host the SPCAMO team). Shrapnel forums are here http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/ winSPMBT is here http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Camo_Workshop/MBT/MBT_page.html winSPww2 is here http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Camo_Workshop/WW2/WW2_page.html Download the base level game and all the patches, patch them up in order, and away you go Vesku was correct, MBTv4.5 and ww2v3.5 are the latest versions. Have a look at the game guide, it comprehensive, but all the info you'll ever need is in there. Or, ask questions at the Shrapnel MBT or ww2 forums...or here, of course. You'll need to play and post the result of one game to get out of Boot Camp, and that'll get you onto the main SP ladder. You have 3 months to score that first game, or you'll be sent a warning of being dropped out of bootcamp. Once on the main ladder, you only need to post 1 game per year to remain Active. Make a post on the forum here asking for a game. try and be specific and ask to play something that you are interested in. There are a few ideas kicking around as to how to set up a good PBEM game, but no hard and fast rules per se. Just negotiate with your opponent and have fun Any questions, feel free to drop me a line any time [email protected] Cheers Walrus RE: Greetings - wigam - 10-31-2009 Welcome mate. You will enjoy your time here. RE: Greetings - Ratel - 11-01-2009 Thanks for the welcome guys. I will be around. Cheers |
