Bravery - Antoni Chmielowski - 11-28-2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/8382575.stm This young medic became the first member of the Royal Navy to be awarded the Military Cross. Her story is an inspiration to others. RE: Bravery - Jim von Krieg - 11-29-2009 Medics under fire... Always seem to earn those medals... When all hell is going on around them, they make a difference... Great work... RE: Bravery - Weasel - 11-29-2009 I am reading Ken Burns' WAR (companion to the PBS series) and I was surprised to find out that WW2 US medics were paid $10 less per month then the infantry man because they didn't carry a gun and thus didn't fight! That is old thinking for sure eh, these guys run into bullets while the soldier hides in a hole! RE: Bravery - Jobu88 - 11-29-2009 "Ya don't get combat pay 'cause ya don't fight." RE: Bravery - Weasel - 12-01-2009 LOL - well that fits it to a 'T' doesn't it! |
