Saved Game Bug? - Tanky - 01-25-2010

I've recently come across what appears to be a saved game issue.

I'm playing two campaigns (N44 and M44) and, for obvious reasons, the ability to save the game is on. I have been able to save the game as I went along quite happily.

However, in the N44 game I saved a game, turned off the PC with the expectation of playing the game the next day. However, on loading the game it automatically ended the turn and gave me the message that the turn is now ready to e-mail. Not put off (thinking an option had been turned on by mistake) I reloaded the game and played it in one sitting (was still able to save). However, my opponent has now noticed he can no longer save the game - when he had returned I noticed that the no file Save option was enabled. Despite me disabling it I can no longer save the game at all.

User error you might think...however, I've just loaded up a M44 turn I was 1/2 way through and it's done the same - automatically ended the turn on the load of the saved game (note it did let me save). I've checked the options and no-file-save is not checked.

Any ideas? Is this by design (seems pointless if it is) or a bug?

If a player has more than one HPS title open and running simultaneously then things like this can happen. If you open the game twice, and the first one has No Save activated, then this may affect the settings of the second game you open. So if a player wants to check on the location of enemy units on the clean open game (no file save), while playing on the other version (file save), the first game's setting may carry over.

I hope this helps.

If your opponent had a previous sceanrio of the same title open with the No File Save option on, then loaded the scenario he is playing with you without first exiting and reloading the game, then the No File Save option can carry over to the newly opened sceanrio.

Always a good idea to completely exit and reload the game when switching between more than one sceanrio of the same title. Weird things happen to replay file also if you play the same sceanrio from two different game saves without first exiting and reloading the game. Example: playing the same sceanrio against two different opponents or playing a concurrent mirror match with one opponent.

It might be overkill, but I do not even unzip into the game directory two different scenarios at the same time if I have more than one sceanrio of a certain title going. I complete the first sceanrio and advance the turn. I exit the game completely. I zip the game file. I unzip the next scenario into the game directory. Then play the turn for the second scenario.
Never had a problem being this cautious with multiple games going on in a single sitting.
