If I reply to his email it takes about 2 minutes to send a 50kb file. Any ideas on how to solve this? If he zips the file without messing with it, and you extract that file into your folder, it should work. I other words, don't open the file. RE: Why is this happening? - animal mother - 02-05-2010 Hi! You mean this shows up in the e-mail itself? If so, I had this once in a game with (I believe) Rope. It is caused by a setting in the mail client's options, that the attachments are shown in the e-mail. He had to turn it off and afterwards everything worked like a charm again. But do not ask me where exactly is as I did not need to do anything. Hope this helps. The file is coming in a .zip (winzip), the best way to send turns, good. But I suspect that when your opponent is ready to insert his turn into the zip he is attaching all system and hidden from his rig to yours...that's a goof up. On the Winzip ADD window, that's waiting for a file to be assigned, there is a check on the lower part of the Winzip window that needs to be unchecked (reads: "Include System Files and Hidden Files") The turn file is all contained in the zip, safe from corruption, and is from your opponent. If the turn file is corrupt, not in notepad, or just wrong THEN it's your opponent that is sending you something wrong. Ps. Always make sure you're both using the same game version. I will direct him to Bear's post and see if that works. I will also get him to check his email client settings too as his is the only of 5 games that is doing this. thanks once again. BTW - I read all my mail clients in the preview window, but my settings are not to display attachments unless I open them. I feel so guilty. ;) Allright I have unchecked the "Include System Files and Hidden Files" box. Hopefully that works. Cheers to all that have answered the call. I guess the easiest way around it is I won't reply to your emails with a REPLY, just create a new one. Damn strange though. [/quote] If the zip ADD, unchecked "Hidden n Sys files" is off. And the run-0n data comes even without winzip. See if the Saved File is the same size as the one attached to your email. That will determine if the data run is tied to your OS or Email program. + OS "Option" or "View" parameter as it relates to email that might be the issue or it is with the Email program. |
